Latest from Chris the NAIT intern
Our interns have been busy....Read on to hear what Chris has been up to!
Hi There,
Chris here again with an update on week two, or is it three? Not too sure. Anyway, exciting stuff going on! We spent some time in meetings this week discussing options for the name of our new net zero/green/sustainable home as well as other strategic stuff related to that. Very exciting, and you’ll have a front row seat to see it unfold in the coming months.
Apart from meetings, I’ve been hard at work getting to know Edmonton’s surrounding area in more detail. Being from a small town myself, I have found this quite interesting and it’s kept me quite busy. As expected, I’ve learned a lot about both Albertan municipalities and the home building industry in them. I can honestly say that I didn’t realize how large some places are, and also how small others were. I’ve even learned a bit about my own back yard.
Ever heard of a town called Calmar? Neither had I, but in 2001 we moved there from Edmonton. It was cool to learn just how small it really is, and kind of funny to compare the metrics to places like Devon, or Leduc which has just exploded over the last few years. Regardless of the humorous comparisons, I really do like small town living and I can say that we are lucky to just live in Alberta, regardless of where. The growth in areas like Leduc County, and Red Deer is good news for our economic situation and also for the general well being of the people who live in these areas.
That’s it for now. Time is in short supply today, but I appreciate you reading along with us.
Back next week,
Chris
